Our professional baseball team played in Kukra Hill and Srujana and I went to check it out and to meet our fellow volunteers who live there. It’s a 25 minute boat ride from Bluefields. The picture of the dock above is the municipal wharf for Kukra. My host family also came! In the picture above Deborah is in the center, her daughter to the left and her sister Cecelia to the right. That’s who Srujana lives with. Srujana is the picture in front of the green gazebo-like thing and our friend Yolie from Pearl Lagoon is in another photo holding sunglasses. The stadium was packed! And we won and had a ton of fun! It was a double header but we only stayed for the first game.

That late afternoon, we were sitting at the wharf waiting on the next boat when across the river, we saw MONKEYS!!! They were so noisy and playful and jumping from tree to tree. It was then and there that I saw my first monkey in Nicaragua and in the wild.
