Delays in Washington

I arrived in DC for Staging that was supposed to last less than 24 hours and turned into 3 days! Due to weather problems in other parts of the US, we had no plane to depart on and therefore were stranded in DC and it was snowing. Keep in mind that nobody was prepared for cold weather since we were supposed to be in Nicaragua in less than 24 hours. However, we were able to make the most of it.

My roommate Sarah and our friend Sophia walked around town in the freezing cold to site see and visit our senators.
Everything was really pretty covered in snow.We stopped to get coffee and buy matching hats to stay warm. That was the best $10 ever spent. Sarah and Sophia in front of the Capitol building. After this, we ran into this guy who asked us to restore his faith in the youth of America. Then we found an ice skating rink!!! I had not been ice skating since I was about 14 years old and had to stay close to the railing the entire time. But Sarah and Sophia were real pros.

After ice skating we had to rush back to the hotel to meet with the director for Central America region to learn our fate…to leave or not to leave. We found out that we’d be leaving in small groups by the end of the week. Finally! In the picture above is not only Nica 55, but the Panama group as well.
